Overdressed for a disaster party
Have you ever felt, at certain occasions, that you arrived overdressed for a disaster – a humiliation perhaps, a heart-break, or an epic fail? Then you’d end up feeling like you’re one big bungling joke in flashy clothing…
You come to a meeting, fully prepared, wearing a nice crisp suit and expensive dress shoes. You present all your brilliant ideas to your boss…then he shrugs them off. He then shows extra interest in the ideas presented by your nerdy co-worker who’s wearing a crumpled polo shirt.
You just spent two hours primping up for a party. You arrive at the venue wearing a skimpy black dress and chic makeup because you heard that the man of your dreams will be attending too. Then he comes in…it turns out he already has a girlfriend. The GF is wearing an old pair of jeans and a baggy shirt, yet she has his full attention. The man of your dreams is oblivious to your bling and sophistication.
You are way overdressed for a party of tragedies. You feel like a monkey in LVs and Jimmy Choos.
I guess that’s really one of the main reasons why I try to dress down everyday. I can never really tell when I’m gonna have a date with (the Comedian of) Destiny. He has a frakking bad sense of humor.

oh no! when was this?
sorry to hear about this dear. on a totally insensitive note though, this entry was just so well-written. you really are better off elsewhere where your talent could be put to good use. >_<

Thanks Ria!
Actually, these situations happened several times to me.
Parang naalala ko lang yung mga nangyari kasi right now I’m having these apprehensions on how I dress. Parang “bakit pa akong mag-aayos, mukha lang din akong tanga kasi hindi naman din nya ako mapapansin/hindi naman nava-value yung skills ko? I’d still be non-existent to him/I’d still be the less talented staff writer to the boss.”

You deserve better sis! I think it’s time to move on from that stinking office and to a new place where your talent will be appreciated. Tama si Ria, you are better off elsewhere. You are a very good writer!
